Vacharanont Sinvaravatn has been selected for the seventh edition of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre’s (BACC) incubating project for young artists, Early Years Project #7, under the theme “A change in the paradigm”.
In this body of work, Sinvaravatn's investigates the perceptions surrounding landscape aesthetics. Although elements such as trees, mountains, rivers, and farms serve as the backdrop of any story, the artist brings forth their roles as protagonists, analysing the dynamics between what it seen and unseen, and what is observed yet unfound. Sinvaravatn links these tensions to national history and identity, looking into how political ideology has become embedded in the land and shaped a range of narratives in Thai society.
Early Years Project #7 is on view at BACC until April 21, 2024.
